Bread and Butter Pickles

"This is a very good recipe for sweet pickles.(I think) I have had very good luck with it in my first year for canning. Mine turned out good and crisp. When cutting cucumbers like sweet mixed pickles, I added a little bit of red bell pepper and also a little cauliflower to look like the bought ones. Also taste good too."

  1. These are very good, I made 10 quarts and added 3 tablespoons of pickling spices, and also a little cayenne pepper to taste I will use ths recipe again. Thanks Alot For Sharing Your Recipe.....

  2. I used lemon cucumbers and they turned out crisp and delicious!

  3. I think the recipe actually meant 5-6 quarts instead of pints. Some of the cucumbers I used were larger but I wound up with about 20 pints! Other wise the flavor was very good.

  4. The perfect bread and butter pickle. Thanks!

I live in South Carolina and I am sort of retired. I have recently moved to the country and have my first garden. It is small but I have really enjoyed eating & canning my "own" food. I have always put most of my vegetables in the freezer but have started using jars this summer and have a canning closet that is looking more beautiful everyday.
