I found this recipe on the Food Network site. It was first featured in a 2008 episode of Guy Fieri's show Guy's Big Bite, in an episode titled Stylin Steak. I thought the cocktail was really good, and I hope you enjoy it, too. The ingredient list includes Cachaca, a Brazilian rum-like liqueur (which is what I use). But in the directions, it doesn't mention when to add cachaca but does include rum. So I think if you don't have Cachaca on hand, you can use rum instead. It might not have the exact same flavor as Cachaca, but it would probably be an acceptable substitute in a pinch.
- Chill a martini glass.
- Muddle a few slices of lime and place in a cocktail shaker. Add Cachaca (or rum), pomegranate juice, sugar, and ice, and shake about 10 times. Pour into a chilled martini glass and garnish with lime slice.
Well the first sip was pretty rugged for me and then it mellowed a bit. I ended up adding a splash of seltzer to mellow it out a bit more. Maybe I'm just a lightweight, lol. I liked the end result, so it all worked out pretty well!
Cachaça a liquor made from fermented sugarcane and my choice for this drink. I Muddled a whole quartered lime and place in a cocktail shaker with honey in place of the sugar muddled then shook with rest of ingredients. Did pour with ice and lime into the martini glass. Thanks and made for ZWT 2011
