Also a Brazilian, I will try this and rate afterwards. It actually sounds very interesting--not sure about the addition of vanilla though... My father was the biggest fan of "Pudim de Leite Condensado"--just sweet condensed milk, eggs and some milk--and I used to make for him frequently. Unlike a prior reviewer's comment, Brazilians actually do add either parmesan cheese or coconut (milk) to this concoction. I never tried both together and am willing to bet it will taste delicious. There is another desert a bit similar to this called "Queijadinha" (keyjahdiñah) or "Queijada" (keyjahdah). I will try to convert the recipe to American measurements and publish it. Thanks for a nice twist in a Brazilian desert, Glaucia. (Your name actually sounds Brazilian!)

I've never tried this with coconut, but it makes for a good twist.
I've made several and usually go with a straight forward sweetened condensed milk, milk and eggs approach. I couldn't really taste the parmesan that much, but it does add a little nuance to the flavor.
I've added a little fresh orange or lime juice (about 1/4 of an orange, 1/2 a lime) to my sugar as it's carmelizing, and that is really good.

I'm Brazilian and I have eaten and made brazilian flan my whole like and this is a really weird recipe. I have heard of coconut but it's not commonly used but I have NEVER heard of parmesan cheese... that sounds gross.

Don't know what the Parmesan did but the flan itself was very good. I could have done with at least 1/4 cup less sugar and the coconut seemed oddly out-of-place here but I went with it. Next time I'll try the lemon. Made for Photo Swap
