- 354.88 ml brown sugar, firmly packed
- 157.80 ml shortening
- 2 large eggs
- 29.58 ml milk
- 14.79 ml orange rind, grated
- 9.85 ml baking powder
- 4.92 ml cinnamon
- 2.46 ml clove
- 1.23 ml salt
- 473.18 ml unbleached flour
- 236.59 ml raisins (optional)
- 118.29 ml nuts, chopped (optional)
directions
- Cream sugar and shortening until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs, milk and orange rind.
- Stir together baking powder, spices, salt and flour.
- Mix into sugar mixture.
- Stir in raisins and nuts, if desired.
- Drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.
- Bake at 350 degrees F. about 10 to 12 minutes, or until done.
- Remove from baking sheets and cool cookies on rack.
- Store in airtight container.
