This was a great marinade! I only had 2 hours, but wish it would have been able to soak up that yummy goodness for 3 hours. I was pleasantly surprised with the steelhead. . .it was our first time trying it and I like it! I am NOT a fan of salmon and it sure looked a lot like salmon before and after cooking. . .but it is much less fishy. . .YEAH!!! Thanks for a keeper of a recipe. I wanted to update this to say that I used the other half of the steelhead today in another recipe and I have to say that this recipe really takes the fishy taste out of the fish! I will definitely try this out on salmon! So I am back today with yet one more update - yes another! I made this again yesterday and let the trout marinate for 8 hours which was a tad bit too much and so I think 6 hours is the magic number for us. It was sinfully delish! And this time I FORGOT (bad me) to put in the bourbon and used fresh squeezed blood orange juice for the citrus and it was amazing. Thanks so much for posting this new family favorite!
I agree with the other reviewers. This was an easy and delicious dinner. I also modified based on the liquer I had on hand and used brandy. It was so good!!!!!!!!!!!
Was ok to much bourbon. The alcohol didn't seem to cook off.
Fast, easy, and came out great! Only marinaded for 2 hours but it was still great. Much better than the salmon I had the night before at a local restaurant. This was tender and flavorful. I was concerned that it might be too salty because of the soy sauce, but it wasn't. This is a keeper.
Super easy, definitely benefits from longer marinating time, but still good with about an hour. Put these under the broiler for 5 - 6 min instead of grilling, it was excellent. Whole family ate it, no leftovers!
Absolutely delicious. I made it as stated, except I didn't have quite as long to marinade. This simple recipe really lets the flavor of the steelhead shine, while keeping the fish moist as it cooks.
Excellent recipe for Steelhead trout. Didn't have Bourbon, so used Rum. Also added a tsp of worstershire.
Wow, what a fantastic marinade. Probably can be used for a variety of fish. If you like Salmon, You will love Steelhead Trout! What a treat!
