This was really tasty. Thank you!
I've made this a couple of times now. This last time was the BEST! I thickened the sauce by dissolving a few tblsp. of cornstarch in the water, before adding it. I doubled the sauce ingred. since I used 1.5lb. of chicken. I also use fresh squeezed orange juice instead of the apple. I might try the honey idea next time! Thanks for a great recipe!
Excellent!!! The only change I made was doubling the sauce ingredients. Wonderful over hot rice! My husband asked me to cook this again only a few days after the first time.
My family loves this recipe. I've made it often, and fine tuned it to where I think I've even improved it. Adding more crushed red pepper makes it better tasting for us. I use a 4 oz. single serving cup of applesauce in lieu of juice (we don't drink apple juice, so we don't buy it). Since I make it with a 3 lb. bag of chicken, I follow the recipe for the sauce the first time, then I make an extra batch of the sauce, but I leave out the water and substitute honey for the brown sugar, to make more of a glaze (the chicken absorbs most of the sauce, and is "dry" without the glaze). This really takes it from a 4 to a 5. I made it for Superbowl, and everyone raved about it.
This was a wonderful dish, I made the chicken and let it simmer for 40 minutes and served it with white rice w/chives. The whole family loved it!!
this was ok for me, it was pretty hot for my taste. i used 1/2 tsp of the red pepper flakes, if i make it again, i would only put in 1/4 tsp. i also thickened it up at the end with cornstarch and water.
We thought this recipe was good, not great. The chicken came out tender, which is always a plus. We had this with a rice dish that was a bit overcooked, but adding the chicken helped. I would like to try this again but with some peas or snow peas over plain or vegie rice. Thanks for posting!
Served this dish at a dinner party for girlfriends served with garlic fried rice and stir fry veggies. Everyone loved it and asked for the recipe. It is so good and fast and easy to make. I added a little more brown sugar for a sweeter taste and an extra garlic clove. This is officially one of my new favorite dishes.
For the most rated recipe on recipezaar I would say it is highly over rated. It makes a nice dish but I have had much tastier stirfrys than this. I am usually very kind about recipes but after making it twice (thought I MUST have done something wrong) it just didn't do it for me.
