I grew up in SC and LOVE boiled peanuts. I buy raw peanuts in 25 lb boxes from Pittsburgh Snax and Nut Company. It's the only place close to where I live in WV that sells them. Some times I will add some cajun seasoning like Tony Chachere's for part of the salt. You can also add a couple chopped hot peppers and some minced garlic to the water an hour or so before they're done.
I am from Charleston, SC and must have these as a snack on the boat or at the beach. When the peanuts were done, my dad always cooled them quickly by putting ice cubes in the water. He said it helped the peanuts absorb the salt.
I love boiled peanuts and would eat them anytime I could while growing up in the South. Now that I have moved to Wyoming I get raw peanuts sent to me in the mail and this is the easiest and best way I have found to make boiled peanuts.
These are awesome. I used to live on them when I was down south. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find raw peanuts since I moved up north, so I've resorted to having can's sent up from my brothers. Ick!
