  1. Boil 1 cup of raisins in 2 cups water until reduced to 1 cup water.
  2. Drain raisins and add soda to the cup of water.
  3. Mix in sugar, shortening, salt, egg, vanilla, cinnamon and flour.
  4. Bake 25 minutes at 350F degrees.
