      Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

      Spray an 8" square pan with cooking spray such as pam.

      Cream butter and sugar.
    4. 4
      Beat in egg yolks.
    5. 5
      Mix flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.
    6. 6
      Alternately fold milk and dry ingredients into the butter mixture.
    7. 7
      Spread in pan and bake for 18-20 minutes.

      Remove pan from oven and reduce oven heat to 300F.

      Whip egg whites until soft peaks form.

      Add sugar, salt and cinnamon.

      Beat until stiff peaks form.

      Gently fold berries into the egg white mixture.

      Spread over cake in pan and bake until topping is lightly brown about 20-30 minutes.

      I give a 5 star to this recipe for even my husband who is not a dessert eater liked it. I really enjoy blueberry recipes since we have blueberries in our back yard .

      Very good. I wasn't sure about the amount of cinnamon this calls for (it seemed a lot to me and too much can taste 'soapy'), but stuck to the recipe and it was just right! Like Chef#339617 I did wonder about the instruction at stage 6, so just beat everything in anyway :-) My topping was a bit chewy, but that may be how it's meant to be, or it might be that I left this in the oven slightly longer than I should (it's quite hard to tell when the topping is "lightly brown", because it's lightly brown when it goes in the oven - because of all the spice - and it doesn't help if you get distracted either!). That said, for me the topping is the best bit and I'm definately going to use the topping part of this recipe again.

      The recipe was kind of inaccurate. I don't know how one folds in milk. Also I don't know how it would be possible to get stiff peaks with the egg whites after you put in all the sugar and spices. These bars were pretty good when the first came out of the oven. I let them cool completely before putting them away for the night but by the next morning they had gone rancid. The cooked egg white layer went mushy and had an unappealing "eggy" smell. Would recommend recipe only if you plan on eating them all immediately after baking
