This recipe just shows that simple can be very good. I thought I would add lots of things to this, but after tasting it I left as it was. Before I added the bacon I halved it, then put the bacon in and that portion was eaten as a dip with cellery and pita bread bits. The rest I put in the fridge and used it two days later, added bacon, garlic, green chopped onion, chopped yellow pepper and topped a baked potato with it. We really enjoyed this, thank yo

My grandma always makes this for family parties and everyone loves it! Your recipe is just as good as grandmas, and thats a compliment. I always have this on toasted bread squares. Tastes just like a BLT that way. Thanks for posting a great recipe!

This is a great dip for both vegetables and assorted crackers. Simple ingredients and easy to prepare. I used plum tomatoes. And, yes, I should have doubled the reicpe. Thanks so much, Karen.

I served this when I needed to bring an appetizer to a party for 20 people. I added 4 oz. cream cheese as other posters had suggested, and I think most people liked it, but nobody raved. Considering how incredibly fattening (it's almost 100% saturated fat- before you add the chips!) it is, I probably won't make it again.

We went to a party where this was one of the biggest hits! Making this for our Memorial Day cook-out/pool party and this is sure to be a HUGE hit! To make it easier I used canned diced tomatos (rinsed, drained and patted dry) and about 10 spring onions (or you could use chives). The hubby and our oldest, saw it in a container in the fridge and they just raided some... said it was better than the one at the party... I also am serving with toast triangles (as in the origional party) as that really brought the BLT flavor home! Thanks Karen for posting this awsome casual summer appetizer!!!

This dip was a hit. It was easy to make and was fabulous. I added a bit of grated cheddar as well. This would be yummy on toast too. mmmm! Highly reccomended for the BLT lovers.

I agree with blizlady#2. This dip is awesome! A friend brought it to our BBQ this weekend. It was gone in a flash - She had made it the night before so all the flavors got to "meld" together - GREAT! Not runny at all. This one is a keeper. Thanks!

I have been making this for years! I use 1 lb of bacon though. I also make sure to take out some of the tomato seeds so that the dip isnt watery! Also a dash of Pepper and garlic powder really make this a great dip! Some people add chopped green onions or leeks! Which is the "L"!! This dish is ALWAYS devoured everytime I make it!

This dip is awesome! A co-worker brought this to our company picnic, and it was gone in a flash. I have seen this same recipe but using a whole pound of bacon. The 1/2 pound is plenty. To the poster who thought it was a little runny, it helps to remove the seeds from the tomatoes so that you are only using the pulp. Another person suggested mixing the bacon, sour cream & mayo - putting this in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight, and then adding the chopped tomatoes just before serving. Delish!

This was a little too runny for my taste. Maybe my tomatoes were too juicy, Also, I think it I make it again I will maybe add a dab of horseradish. It needs a little touch of something.

Wow, this is a great dip! Very quick to prepare, and outstanding taste, lives up to its name! I made exactly as directed, but used a yellow tomato. The flavor gets better the longer it chills. Thanks for sharing.

This is one of my favorites - I just wish it wasn't so fattening. I don't make it that often, so when I do, we feel OK about indulging a little.

Good! We didn't have any fresh tomatoes so I was going to use canned diced tomatoes - and then we didn't have any of those either, so we used a can of Rotel and it was so good. I couldn't taste the bacon enough so we put in a whole pound. My one-year old actually tried to open the fridge to get to it! Thanks for posting.
