Snagged this recipe from a copycat cookbook I saw at BJ's. I had to keep repeating it in my head over and over again on the way home. Well worth the mental effort, though. Not only is it good for the onions, but it makes a great sandwich spread, especially on turkey breast.
- 118.29 ml mayonnaise
- 29.58 ml ketchup
- 29.58 ml horseradish sauce
- 1.23 ml paprika
- 1.23 ml salt
- 0.59 ml oregano
- 0.25 ml ground black pepper
- 0.25 ml ground cayenne pepper
- Mix it all together and enjoy as a dip for onions or french fries, or as a sandwich spread.
I used horseradish, not horseradish sauce and I found it a bit tart - there was a teaspoon of horseradish "juice" in the bowl after I dropped it in. So I added a nice glop of sour cream and it made it, surprisingly, creamy. When I make it again, I'll go half sour cream and half mayo (1/4c each). And make sure to let the horseradish drain first. I used this for dipping Fried Dill Pickles and it was great. Tasted a lot like the sauce that the restaurant Cheeseburger in Paradise used with their fried pickles (which of course always reminded me of the bloomin onion sauce). I didn't use exact measurements - just eyeballed it and tweaked it until it tasted just right. Also, I didn't have horseradish sauce so I used about two tsps of wasabi paste I had leftover in the fridge and it was a perfect substitute. Thanks for such an easy and tasty sauce Cluich!
This was awesome! As for me I love the bite of horseradish. I added more horseradish. Not creamy. Thanks for recipe.
