This is a recipe from my sister. She's a blonde, these are blonde brownies and the running joke in the family is that it's one of the few things she can make :-)
- 1 cup margarine
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups self-rising flour
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Preheat oven to 350~.
- Mix everything together.
- Pour into 9X13 pan.
- Bake for 40 minutes or until done.
I'm giving this four stars because they are tasty but not mind-blowing. The recipe is basically chocolate-chip cookie dough, but the directions aren't wonderful.
Butter and sugar need creaming first - if you throw everything together (including the chips!) it won't come out right at all. (cut back sugar to 1 1/2 cups; I couldn't conscience two whole cups!)
Also, what I ended up with was not at all a "pourable" consistency, and the directions say to pour it into the pan. As a cookie dough, it's spreadable, but it doesn't pour.
The end result was a yummy treat, though a little on the dry side; next time I'll underbake them slightly. (I got distracted by a little-kid emergency!)
Thanks for sharing this family recipe!
These are great! I made them for a treat to take on the road on vacation. They were just chocoalty enough, very moist and traveled well. Loved all the brown sugar, made them kinda chewy, hence the brownie like texture. These will be made alot when I crave chewy chocolate chip cookies...Thanks!
