This is a wonderfully rich cake! Hubby wanted this for his birthday, and I happily obliged. I made a 9x13 using 1 cake mix instead of making a 3 layer cake, because that would be way too much cake for us, although I'm sure the 3 layer presentation is beautiful! Using 1/2 the amount of ingredients for the chocolate, jam, and frosting layers was a good amount for a 9x13 cake. I was a little concerned about the liquid levels for the cake, especially since I live in CO, so I followed the instructions on the cake mix box for water, eggs, and oil, and just added the sour cream to that.
