This is so very good. I never made a blackberry crisp before this recipe. My hubby loved it! Simple and very pretty to take to an event. I too added some oats for texture and cut back the sugar- to taste. Such a yummy treat. :) You won't be sorry!

Too much sugar in filling and in topping. Sickly sweet and believe me, I like sweet. I suggest adding half of the sugar for filling and then adjust to your liking. Topping: Cut sugar in half and once again taste. I added 1/2 c oats to topping which was perfect--cook longer if you do this or center of crisp will be wet.

WOW....this is SOOOOOOOOOO good!!! I did make a couple changes...I added 1/2 cup rolled oats & a couple teaspoons of cinnamon to the topping & I didn't melt the butter...I cut it in, instead. Other than that, GREAT!!! THANKS for sharing!!!

I did not make this, first off. My mom did. She comes here for recipes but is not a member. She has the greatest wild blackberry patch that produces a ton of berries every year. She made this and we all gave it thumbs up. Great recipe, Roger! Thanks so much for posting!!

I made this recipe for the first time and my family loved it. I was only able to pick 4 cups of fresh blackberries and it still was enough. I only cooked mine for 30 minutes until it was brown on top - it was wonderful. My son raves how this is the best recipe yet.

Just made this for the second time and love it. The topping is very crisp. Used frozen berries both times. Second time I got the berry filling bubbling before I put on topping. The crust got a little dark around the outside first time. Makes me wince to put all that butter over the top, but it works.
