- 3 cups brown sugar
- 1⁄2 cup lard
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking soda, dissolved in
- 2 tablespoons water, hot
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 tablespoon black walnut flavoring
- 1⁄2 cup walnuts, chopped
- 5 cups flour
- Mix and roll long way with your hands.
- Make into 2 (10-inch) rolls.
- Leave in refrigerator all day or overnight and slice with a sharp knife about 1/4-inch.
- Bake on greased cookie sheet about 8 to 10 minutes.
