From one of my CD cookbooks.
- 1 (6 ounce) package semisweet chocolate
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons water
- 4 egg yolks, well beaten
- 4 egg whites
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 small angel food cake
- Melt chocolate, sugar, and water in double boiler. Gradually beat in egg yolks. Let cool to room temperature.
- Beat egg whites. Add half of beaten egg whites to chocolate mixture, blend. Fold in remaining whites. Whip heavy cream. Fold into chocolate mixture.
- Tear angel food cake into bite-size pieces. Grease a loaf pan and fill by alternating layers of cake pieces and chocolate. Top with chocolate. Chill 24 hours.
Made this recipe to give to a neighbor couple as part of their Thanksgiving dinner (They're not very fond of anything pumpkin, but are chocoholics!) & they really enjoyed it, I think as much for the lightness of the cake as for the chocolate! Will be making this sometime soon just for us, but only after I get my fill of the usual pumpkin/cranberry/mince thingies! Thanks for sharing the recipe! [Tagged, made & reviewed in Beverage Tag]
