Black Bean Salsa

"I didn't know what to call this so I called it Black Bean Salsa. This is a VERY good salsa and SO easy to make. It makes A LOT of it as well. So it's good for cookouts and dinners. My mom got this recipe from a friend and we made this together that night. It was mandatory that we got to the grocery store to get the ingredients for this. I absolutely loved it! I also find that it's very healthy and high in fiber. I enjoy my salsa with some WOW tortilla chips. . . or even on an egg omelette. My mom and I nearly ate half of it before we even chilled it. Or you can put it this way.. . we went through a whole bag of tortilla chips. lol. Enjoy! (I do not know how many servings this makes, all I know is that it makes a WHOLE lot of salsa. And the prep time is estimated)"

  1. Very good, very easy, makes a bunch. We had it with grilled fish and meat over the course of three meals. I will definitely make it again.

  2. Excellent! Exactly what I was looking for. A local grocery store sells this at 5.99/lb. I made it exactly as written except I used fresh corn and it tasted fantastic. Perfect for big get togethers and so easy to put together. Love it, thank you!

  3. This is great! I needed something to take to a cookout and this fit the bill perfectly. I made as directed, but used canned shoepeg corn because I didn't have frozen corn on hand. I also added fresh guacamole in the center of the bowl of salsa. This is a keeper!

  4. I was sure that I had reviewed this recipe. It is AWESOME. Can’t I give it more then 5 stars? I have made this a number of times. OK, to many to count. I pretty much stick to the recipe. I have some HOT chili powder so I don’t use what the recipe calls for. I think I use ½ teaspoon. I tell ya, it’s hot! I have used fresh tomatoes but canned works just as well. I just drain them on a paper towel. I have used the frozen corn but really, really like it made with fresh (and even fresh off the cobb I put up in the freezer). This says fresh for several days but I do find it gets a little wet near the end. I like to reserve the lime juice and just squirt it on my serving to avoid that. Luckily, I live alone, as I don’t like to share this bean dip. Thanks for sharing it!

  5. I thought this was great. Just like what you get in mexican restaurants and healthy too (except for the chips to eat with)!

I am from Kentucky. I'm 14 years old, and I love to cook. I live way out in the country so it's hard to find fresh herbs, and it's hard to make a quick trip to the grocery store to buy a missing ingrediant. We have to drive 30 minutes to get a gallon of milk! I enjoy healthy cooking. If you find a recipe of mine on here it's most definitly healthy. And I always tweak my recipes to become even more healthy for you. Like cake recipes I always replace the oil with natural applesauce which I think gives everything a better flavor. I'm not an expert on foods, however I would love to goto culinary school. I enjoy watching people cook on TV. I DO watch Emeril, and everything on food network. I love to watch the Cooking Episodes on the Health Channel. It really does give you some ideas for healthy meals. And in order to cook a recipe out of a Muscle and Fitness Magazine you got to be ready to tweak the ingrediants and get creative, because not all of them will turn out tasting the best. I also subscribe to Light n Tasty. I look forward to my new issue ever 2 months. I love that magazine. It's truely one of my favorites. It's alot better then Cooking Light if you ask me. School, my most favorite of all subjects is History. I LOVE IT! I always like to watch the educational channels as much as any ol' channel. I have a big interest in past wars, and politics. I'm not saying that I want to be president, I'm just saying I am very controversial whenever it comes to politics. And the 2000 election was so obvious, I knew George Bush would get it. Believe it or not, my mom asked ME who she should vote for. And I had already considered the pros and cons of George and Al, so I was 100% George Bush. Well, I'm going to go. Hopefully you'll be seeing more recipes on the Zaar from me. Gloria
