This tasted great. I only used 3 1/2 cups of sugar (I don't care for super sweet icing). I can't imagine what the consistency would have been like if I'd used the recommended amount because this was a super thick, almost like wet sand. It was difficult to frost my cake and all in all i was very frustrated. I tried to add a bit more milk and all it did was puddle up. :(
DD used this frosting to top her chocolate cupcakes for school. This is an easy frosting to prepare and it tastes good. Thank you for sharing a recipe my girls can prepare themselves.

great frosting-my kitchenaid doesnt cream butter well so I did this by hand and then i used the kitchenaid for everything else. I also sifted the sugar 2x ( buttercream icing turns out much better when you sift) and i increased the vanilla to 2 tsps for more floavor. The icing came out perfect. I used this for chocolate cake. Thanks for this keeper.
I used this recipe to make the Vanilla Frosting layer for Sweet Something Bars. This made up very nicely and set perfectly for the above recipe. I will be using this recipe again and again. Thank You for a wonderful recipe.
