Susie, this old man has been cooking for 53 years! I have never made chicken and dumplings as good as this!! The only thing I did different is I added 1 bay leaf and 1 large chopped onion! This is a winner! Thanks for sharing! Must add to this! I have made this many times since I first tried it! The dumplings can be made ahead of time and then refrigerate them and save them until ready to use. Place them in wax paper with a little flour on them. They come out fresh with a more flavor!
Takes a long time to make but it is very good. I didn't follow the directions on how to roll out the dumplings. I just spooned them in, it was MUCH easier.
This was a great recipe for a cold winter night! I halved the recipe since there were only two of us eating, and used chicken tenderloins instead of whole chicken. I won't use the hand mixer to make the dough next time - it wasn't worth the mess. I'm eating leftovers for lunch today, and they're just as good the next day!
This was so delicious and not very difficult to make. The flavor of the dumplings are great and I love how the broth thickens a bit. I can't wait to have leftovers tomorrow!
OMG these were the dumpling recipe I had been searching for for years. My great aunt used to fix these with the added chicken broth, and the dumplings would just melt in your mouth. My DS couldn't get enough. My Mother was astounded to finally find what we had been looking for for so long. Thanks Susie, this is definately a keeper
Oh my goodness! My mother used to make Chicken & Dumplings when I was growing up, so I thought I'd attempt. All of the time and effort put into this meal was worth it! It turned out absolutely delicious and was the best comfort food! It also a very cost-efficient meal. Thank you so much!!!
Very Delicious! I left out the garlic powder and red pepper, and added fresh minced parsley and dill weed (2 must have ingredients for delish chicken soup) I also used left over thanksgiving turkey. Dumplins were great, ty for the recipe.
This was fantastic. I have never had these type of dumplings before, we have always had the puffy ones. But never again! The whole family loved them.
I specifically dislike "Puffy" dumplings. These are like the ones we used to eat at Po' Folks restaurants when I was little. They are just divine and everyone at our family gathering loved them. They are filling and this makes more than enough for 2 family dinners. Thank you!!
great comfort food worth every minute of preparation. I did add a lil more pepper and poultry seasoning to it and i froze for a easy weeknight dinner
