These are tasty rolls/turnovers filled with browned beef, cabbage, and onion. They were a big hit growing up. Kids love to dip them in ketchup.

I used to make this recipe a lot when the kids were small (over 25 yrs ago...sigh). We all enjoyed it. When you make the dough, make it as you would make rolls or buns. I also have an alternate filling - Pizza Filling-to the browned meat & onion add 3/4 cup tomato paste, 1/4 cup water, 2 teaspoons sugar, 1 teaspoon oregano, 1 teaspoon salt and a dash of pepper. Fill & bake as stated in original recipe!

These are terrific and so handy to have in the freezer. I was introduced to bierrocks when I attended a GC Mennonite college and learned about Russian Mennonite foods. Our children all love bierrocks. Thanks for posting this recipe.
