I chose this recipe to make for my birthday dinner. My guests loved it and everyone had seconds. Would not change a thing (ok.. maybe just 1 more clove of garlic!)

This is my Holy Grail spaghetti sauce! It tastes just like the sauce my father makes without a recipe - I'm one of those people who can cook anything I have a recipe for, but very few things "on the fly". I use Penzey's Tuscan Sunset for the Italian seasoning, and it's perfect. Thank you for posting this!

This turned out really delicious. I altered to my taste. Used one pound ground beef and half pound Italian sausage. Used one onion, two carrots, two stalks celery, two cloves garlic and a shallot and sauteed together instead of just an onion. Cooked the meat first and then transferred to a colander. Cooked the veg in meat render and then mixed the meat, veg, spices together. Used one 28oz can crushed tomato, one 28oz can tomato sauce and one 6oz can tomato paste. Seasonings all the same. Simmered 1-2 hours.

wow. soooo simple yet sooooo good and tasty! really! my husband is from a huge italian family and their gravy is very important to them...and i think this is better than my mother in law's! i really do! thank you so much! this is a staple on my weekly menu!

This is a really good sauce. everyone loved it!! The only thing I did different was to add some sausage. I doubled the recipe and had PLENTY to freeze!! Thanks for a great sauce recipe!!
