This is sooooo good!!! Only things I did different were used already chopped seasoning(onions, celery, bell pepper), I was out of bay leaf and black pepper and I made meatballs(Mama Iuliucci's FAMOUS MEAT-A-BALLS (Italian Meatballs) Mama Iuliucci's Famous Meat-A-Balls (Italian Meatballs)) Love this so much will make again and again and again! next time I will make sure I have everything! Bev, thanks so much for this recipe! I had this as the main dish for my 3 year old's birthday party with her grandparents. Being the only vegetarian in the entire family, I rely on RecipeZaar and the reviewers here when I choose "meat" recipes, since I cannot "taste" as I go and alter things to our liking. Everyone went nuts over this spaghetti sauce and I followed it exactly as written. Thanks again!
So Yummy! I did trade the beef for ground turkey with italian seasoning and also added spicy turkey sausage!(My husband can't have beef it gives him migraines) other than that little adjustment I followed every thing else to a tee and it came out pretty delish if I do say so myself :) I will definitely be keeping this on hand to make again!
What a wonderful sauce. Added a little more garlic and doubled the recipe. Had to use a giant stock pot. Froze half of it. It was even better the next day. Thanks Bev for sharing such a great recipe!!
I have to admit I didn't think this sauce was going to be as great as everybody says--but boy did you prove me wrong. This is just what I've been looking for. It's a very fresh tasting sauce with just the right amount of herbs. My son, who never eats sauce, ate a ton of this one. Thank you Bev!
This was so good! I only use 1 lb ground beef when I make it, and there still seems to be plenty of meat in it. I always add extra garlic and seasonings, and usually leave out the mushrooms. I've made this several times already and I usually freeze the leftover sauce. It freezes so well that next time I might double the recipe (using 1 lb ground beef and 1 lb sausage) so I have more to freeze. I've never had a better meat sauce; thanks so much for sharing this recipe!!
