While this recipe is very tasty, I felt like the spices overpowered the apple flavor. Next time I will try it with a quarter of the spices and add more if needed at the end. I did cut back on the sugars and added a tablespoon of lemon juice to the water ( I poured that mixture over the apples while I was chopping them). I agree that it was terrific warmed over ice cream -- apple pie a la mode without the crust!
Thank you for this delicious recipe.
This was a wonderful recipe!!! I used it in grits, on biscuits, and ice cream. Also, in a many other dishes as well. I recommend you use this recipe. But, I did add a little vanilla flavoring.
Nice, but a tad too sweet, so I added a tsp of fresh lemon juice and a pinch of salt to offset some of the sweetness. Next time I'll cut back a bit on the sugar.
I made this recipe on today June 11, 2014. My family loved it, I will be making this again.
Too much sugar and fat to be healthy. Reduce sugar to a couple of tablespoons or use Splenda. Omit butter. Why take a healthy fruit like apples and produce an unhealthy dessert?
These were simple and delicious. It was the perfect recipe, especially since I already had all the ingredients on hand. Everyone loved them. We had them with fried pork chops and it was very tasty. I think these would be really good at breakfast too....or anytime! Thanks for sharing!
I made this because I had all the ingredients (I did not have apple or lemon juice, etc.) and your recipes are always good. It did not disappoint, and I will definitely make it again. Thanks once again, Bev!
