Betty's Chocolate Chip Cookies

"When I was in high school, I cleaned Betty's house to earn extra money. Betty made these awesome cookies that are still my favorite all these years later. The original recipe called for a brand of shortening called Fluffo. I don't think that brand is made any more, but using the butter-flavored Crisco provides a good substitute."

  1. I found this recipe because I was out of butter but needed to make chocolate chip cookies. I the only change I made was by using chocolate chunks instead. These are so good I don't think I will ever make them any other way again. Thanks for sharing Ms*Bindy.

  2. Well its a little on the salty side for my taste and i did toss in a couple more ounces of chips, but altogether a nice cookie, as for the perfect one for my family, i think i'm going to keep looking. :)

  3. very rich and chewy..I made them with the butter flavor crisco as recommended which I think really added to the flavor. We used a large scoop so they were very BIG cookies...perfect for icecream sandwiches. I also made a double batch and put butterscotch and chocolate chips in that one...yum!
