- 1 loaf crusty French bread or 2 submarine-style hard rolls, split lengthwise
- 177.44 ml prepared low fat chunky spaghetti sauce or 177.44 ml garden style spaghetti sauce
- 4.92 ml dried oregano
- 1 fresh green pepper, sliced thinly
- 118.29 ml fresh mushrooms or 118.29 ml canned mushroom, thinly sliced
- 59.14 ml fat-free parmesan cheese
- 236.59 ml lowfat mozzarella cheese, shredded
directions
- Spoon spaghetti sauce over sliced bread or rolls.
- Top with mushrooms and green peppers.
- Sprinkle with oregano and cheeses.
- Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes.

DH and I made these to use up a loaf of french bread we had on hand. We used canned mushrooms, but I think fresh ones might have been better. We found that we needed a LOT more spice, and loaded up on salt and pepper before eating. I agree with some previous reviews; I'd definitely use pizza sauce next time. We'll make this again for sure!!

Nice and easy. I bought 2 loaves of garlic parmesan bread for $1.25 from WalMart. That night I made this recipe with cheese and mushrooms. The next day, I replaced the sauce with barbeque sauce and some leftover barbeque meat. I left the rest the same and it was SO GOOD. Thanks for such a simple (and inexpensive) recipe.
