    Oh, the way your house smells when baking homemade bread!!! I got this recipe from a church friend who has 9 children. I scaled it down for my family. I bake bread twice a week. So much better than store bought.

      In a large mixing bowl, put all liquids in and stir.

      Add sugar, salt and yeast.
    3. 3
      Let stand 5 minutes.
    4. 4
      Add eggs and oatmeal.

      Stir in enough flour til dough cleans side of bowl.
    6. 6
      Turn onto floured surface and knead in remaining flour until dough is smooth and elastic.

      Put dough in greased bowl, cover and allow to rise until double.
    8. 8
      Punch dough down, form into 4 loaves, place in greased loaf pans and let rise until double in size.

      Bake at 350° for 25 minutes, or until golden brown and loaf sounds hollow when tapped.

      Remove from pans immediately and allow to cool on wire racks.

      This was SO delicious! Just made this last evening. DH sat up & ate a bunch before bed! I followed the recipe exactly, but ended up adding a total of 12-13 c. of flour total. Made four lovely loaves! Thanks for sharing! This is a really hearty, filling bread (probably due to the oatmeal). Looking forward to using this for toast this morning! Thanks for sharing!

      I've tried many wheat bread recipes, and this has to be the best. I used Splenda in place of sugar, used a bit more wheat flour than white, and added a couple tbsp. of flax seed. I kept in mind the review from "Lironah" and added the salt near the end. This is a keeper!

      This recipe tasted very good, but it didn't rise. Next time I will not add the salt and the yeast in the same step - apparently this can kill the yeast. I also had trouble with my first batch not cooking in the middle, but I'm pretty sure that's because my oven isn't heating properly. The second batch I baked hotter and it was fine.
