Best Scones

"The lightest scones I ever had, but be careful it requires a light hand. Don't overmix and knead the dough too much or they will turn out very tough. Undermix in better.Use only a small amount of flour on the kneding board and knead lightly until very smooth.Add a little sugar to take away any floury taste. Before baking, brush top with milk for golden shiny tops."

  1. These really are wonderful scones. I added a couple teaspoons of Splenda because I like a little sweetness in scones that I'll be using for brekkie. I also found the dough to wet to knead at first so I waited for about a min and rechecked. It was much better after allowing that little time for the flour to absorb the liquid, however, I still needed a little more flour on the board that the recipe describes. All in all they turned out beautifully (even though I forgot to make the cuts) with the same great crisp thin exterior and a moist incredibly tender and delicious interior. They made a marvelous breakfast with tea and Recipe #315981. Thanks Little for a real keeper.

  2. Mmmm, I had these for breakkie today and they were fabulous! What a great start into the day! They are flaky yet very soft and moist on the inside and have a great crunchy crust. I added in 20 g of sugar for a slight sweetness, which was very nice. Due to diners review I was careful when adding the water/milk, so that my dough wouldnt be too wet. I only needed 3/4 cup in total. THANKS SO MUCH for sharing this real treat with us! Ill surely make it again! :) Made and reviewed for Everyday Is A Holiday Tag Game January 2010.

  3. Made these scones for breakfast this morning and served it with fresh fruit and they are wonderful. I had to add some more flour to the batter as it was still too gooey to knead, but with more flour was able to get a nice soft dough. Baked up nice and fluffy on the inside and a good crisp crust. Thanks for sharing the recipe. Made for Newest Tag.

I come from the land of Dracula and I have two little daughters; they're three years apart.I travelled a lot and I lived in Hungary,Croatia,Canada,Thailand,Japan and Iran(DH is from here). I've seen a lot of wonderful places, the travel bug is still in me but waiting for DDs to grow a little so we can go together. Lots of wonderful memories and hoping to add some more, but my travelling style has to be adjusted now.No more backpacking! I feel old, suddenly. My girls are everything for me and I'm lucky that I'm able to be at home with them.My life really changed since having them. I like eating healthy,DH works out a lot and taught me about the right foods.Right now I'm trying to lose a few kg,but I'm happy if I lose one kg/month. Never needed a drastic diet,I drink a lot of water and luckylly there's no McDonalds here(yet) to eat junk food. I prefer homemade cooking to restaurants, these days we can make a better tasting meal at home. I like knowing what goes in my food and what hands are cooking it. I always look at a chef's hands and believe me I've seen dirty fingers too! I came to the Zaar to look for a pancake recipe and now my refrigerator is full with jars of homemade stuff. I made a lot of friends and I enjoy playing in the tag games since receiving a premium membership gift from Sydney Mike. Thank you, Syd. I want to thank everyone who makes my recipes and takes the time to take photos. Sometimes I loose track and I can't get back to thank each person making a recipe. I don't mind if someone doesn't stick to the recipe, everyone's taste and needs are different, sometimes ingredients are hard to find and I know this better than most. Please feel free to experiment and hope we'll learn something new from your feedback. <a href="http://www3.clustrmaps.com/counter/maps.php?url=http://recipezaar.com/member/678366" id="clustrMapsLink"><img src="http://www3.clustrmaps.com/counter/index2.php?url=http://recipezaar.com/member/678366" style="border:0px;" alt="Locations of visitors to this page" title="Locations of visitors to this page" id="clustrMapsImg" onerror="this.onerror=null; this.src='http://www2.clustrmaps.com/images/clustrmaps-back-soon.jpg'; document.getElementById('clustrMapsLink').href='http://www2.clustrmaps.com';" /> </a> These are the tag games that I took part in: <img src= "http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt181/alligirl65/thesnowmorning-3-1-1.jpg"> <img src="http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a132/tgifford/Game%20Room%20Banners/AM%20Banners/holidaybadge.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket"X><img src="http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj81/HokiesLady65/Recipezaar%20Album/iplaytagin.jpg"> <img src="http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj81/HokiesLady65/Banners/holidayprmr.jpg"> <img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z230/Lainey6605/gimme-5-sm1.jpg" border="0" alt="Gimme 5 personal banner"> <img src="http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j166/ZaarNicksMom/Animation6.gif"><img src="http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j166/ZaarNicksMom/PACsticker-Adopted.jpg"> <img src="http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r317/j_welcome/pics2/food/PRMRcopy.jpg"><img src="http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a254/Sharon123/Copyoftag300-banner.jpg" border="0" alt="Susie's Banner for Newest Zaar Tag"> <img src=http://i335.photobucket.com/albums/m445/mliss29/vegn%20swap/vegnswap.jpg> <img src="http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b2/kiwidutch/my3chefs2009final-1.jpg"> <img src="http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj81/HokiesLady65/Banners/ST_AMBADGE.jpg"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v726/annacia/Permanent%20Banners/snow-queens-sm.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v726/annacia/pt-shutterbug-banner-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"> <img src="http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a132/tgifford/Game%20Room%20Banners/AM%20Banners/ZaarStar-AMBanner.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"> <img src="http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c105/jewelies/picKIsYtv-1.jpg"> <img src="http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r271/copperhorse58/ThymeSticker.jpg"><img src="http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r271/copperhorse58/Herb1BaySTKR.jpg"> <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v726/annacia/Permanent%20Banners/pot-luck-sm.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v726/annacia/Permanent%20Banners/Masked-reveller-at-Carniv-0.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <img src=http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b367/chefpaulag/vegetabel_soup_banner-1-1.jpg?t=1263826088> <img src="http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c105/jewelies/pic607Ocg-2.jpg"> <img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b280/carolinamoon21/Ingredients/BANNERS/TeaSuppers-STKR.jpg"> <img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b280/carolinamoon21/Ingredients/BANNERS/PhotoswapSTKR.jpg">
