I forgot the vanilla extract, but still found it rich and yummy. The kids loved it too. They all agreed it was much better than the store-bought stuff. I added probably double the chocolate chips than what were called for, for a cross between European and American-style hot chocolate. I improvised a double boiler (one pan inside another with water in it) and the hot chocolate came out perfectly smooth. I warmed the milk up a bit in the microwave first to cut down on stirring time.
Great recipe!Used Lindt dark chocolate bar with chili pepper extract. Hot,spicy and superchocolately! Better than powder( I never buy instant powder, but only goid quality powder cocoa liki Fazer)
This is very popular with my girls. It's very easy to make and is delicious. I have found that Ghirardelli chocolate chips work very well in this recipe but not Nestle -- they just don't melt as well.
Very nice, rich hot chocolate. I used full fat milk, but skipped the whipped cream. This is really a great way to make drinking chocolate, much better than the powdered crud you can buy. Thanks for a nice comforting drink to enjoy by the fire!
This chocolate was fabulous! I thought it was going to be too thin, but it wasn't. It was rich and creamy. I made it sans whip cream just personal preference. I added a touch of nutmeg at the end. This will definitely be made again!!
I loved this recipe, the hot chocolate is awesome. Definitely the best hot chocolate that I have ever made. I didn't have any chocolate chips so I used extra dark chocolate, it worked perfectly in this recipe. The hot chocolate was smooth, silky, thick and delicious. The whipped cream was the frosting on the cake. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful treat. Made just because. :)
This was okay. I had some leftover chocolate chips and my kids weren't feeling too well so I made this for them this morning. The milk and the chocolate never turned out that smooth. I didn't make the whipped cream because the boys insist on marshmallows. Lisa
