My husband loves home made hashbrowns so I began practicing to find the best method of cooking them. I think I have found it but it will take a little time. I usually just throw some potatoes in the oven while we are watching tv so we will have them ready when we need them.
- 4 -5 large potatoes
- 2 tablespoons oil
- salt and pepper
- Rub the outside of the potatoes with oil and then lightly salt. Prick the potatoes with a fork. Bake at 325 degrees for about an hour or until they start to become soft. Let the potatoes cool completely.
- Grate potatoes.
- Heat oil in skillet on medium. Add potatoes.
- Cook 15-20 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste.
- You can also add any additional items that you like, such as, onion, tomotoes, cheese, etc.
I tried this method, but found it not very manageable when forming and cooking the hash browns, came out more like a potato pancake, but abeit, the the taste was there of course...fried taters!
I really like this recipe it's healthy and good
