"Nice moist grilled burgers with just the right amount of seasonings. No more boring burgers! Adjust the seasonings as desired. These won't dry out, and they re-heat nicely!"

  • Top with a slice of your favorite cheese.
  • We especially like provolone or swiss.

Questions & Replies

  1. The people who are calling it meatloaf are wrong. Eggs, crackers and so on were originally used in the Depression-era to stretch meat farther. It was a necessity, not a culinary adventure.

  1. I have now made this recipe with alterations several times now. Omit the egg and crackers. You’re making burgers, not a meatloaf. The seasoning ratios are perfect. Use 80/20 beef, making sure not to handle the meat too much. Don’t press the burgers on the grill and everything will be perfect.

  2. Meatloaf

  3. Skip the onion salt. The rest is a good base for red onion slice a good thick beefsteak tomato and a good bun. I believe the bread is a key to any great burger - use sliced french or italian loaf or any type of bakery roll - kaiser etc. Stay away from the plastic packs purported to be hamburger buns and you will have a great burger. Mix and match - the bread makes all the difference!

  4. These were easy & did stay moist. I did sub fresh garlic for the garlic powder. I topped the burgers with sauteed mushrooms & swiss cheese. Thank you for sharing your recipe!

  5. Very average, there's no reason to add this much salt in different forms. No black pepper, sorry. This just isn't proper seasoning for meat. 1 tsp per pound of meat for black pepper is the usual measure to start with.

Tweaks

  1. Use Moore's instead of Worcestershire much better flavor, also no crackers or eggs, instead use 1/4 cup quick oats. The oats- you will never know there in there, but they absorb the meat juices and oh so good.

  2. Fantastic moist burgers! I didn't have worchshire sauce on hand so I used A1 steak sauce instead. Came out great! Whole family loved them!

I am a retired nurse/nursing professor. I?ve been married to a great guy for 48 years. I love to garden and grow my own vegetables and flowers. I home can and freeze foods extensively. I?ve always had a love of cooking, but now it?s just the two of us, so I need to learn to cook in smaller quantities. I?ve always worked full time and often with a sideline part time job as well so I?m used to cooking double and freezing half for later. I don?t have to do that anymore and it?s been an adjustment. With the Covid pandemic we rarely eat out so this website has been a real blessing!?
