I've made this so many times that I can't believe I never took the time to review it. This is a great, easy recipe and very tasty. I usually skip the canned mushrooms because I never have them on hand (although I do sometimes saute fresh mushrooms in butter and spoon them over the top of each dish), plus I add about a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce and about a 1/4 cup of beef broth for flavor and a thinner consistency. This is a HUGE hit in my house. DH requests it on a weekly basis.

This tasted like homemade hamburger helper. Even with the addition of worcestershire sauce it was very bland and just totally plain. I can see fixing this for the kids on a weeknight when I am not so hungry but not anytime soon. I would post a slew of suggestions for tweeking the recipe but then that would just be a completely different recipe now wouldn't it? It was easy and filling but I just don't understand the rave reviews over this one at all.

Very good! I did make some changes though after reading other reviews in order to add a bit more flavor. I used 3 cloves garlic, only 1/3 c sour cream and added 1 tablespoon worchestershire, and some frozen peas for the extra nutrition. Also needed to add a bit of water after adding the soup to thin it out. Will make this again.

Very Good! I did make a couple of changes. I used 2- 8 oz fresh sliced mushrooms { I sauted with the onions and garlic} I used two cans of mushroom soup, and two T Worcestershire sauce.
Thanks for posting.

Followed recipe to the "T", turned out tasting only of sour cream, tasted it before adding it and it tasted great..should have left it out and ate it thick. Bit of a let down, especially with all the rave reviews.

Easy to make and fast for a dinner but seemed to be extremely thick and cakey. Probably would try again. However I would add sour cream and flour as I go to my desired consistency.

Not a bad quick meal, but not what I would normally call beef stroganoff

Very good! But definitely use a name brand soup for this. The second time I made it, I used a store brand, and the stroganoff was very, very bland. It's probably the first time I'd ever noticed a taste difference using a store brand soup vs. name brand. Instead of canned mushrooms, I sauted fresh along with the onions and beef. This will definitely be in the regular meal rotation. Thank you!

I wish that I'd left out the sour cream. I tasted it before adding, and it was plenty creamy already. The sour cream just made it bland, even though I only used 1/2c. I used fresh mushrooms (cooked separately in butter) and added a few splashes of worcestershire sauce. If I were to make this again I would leave out the sour cream, and maybe add some paprika and parsley. I do agree that it was very easy to make and has a nice meaty flavor.

This was a wonderful base recipe for Stroganoff. I did add a few items and change one or two things. I used Top Round cut into cubes which I browned with the onion, garlic, as well as a minced cerrano pepper (we like a little heat). I seasoned the meat with a little salt, pepper, and paprika before browning. I also used fresh button mushrooms (i think next time I will either slice some crimini's or use chantrels). This is an easy dish to make, and tastes extraordinary. If you want to put a little spin on it you can also serve over rice, which I did the first time I made it, and it is really nice. Serve with either fresh green beans or maybe asparagus if it is in season. Great recipe. Thank you.

This was some pretty good $#%&!! I used 3 cans of mushrooms because we love them and I used 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup so it would be more creamy. I think that next time I will cut the sour cream back to 3/4 cup. This was fast and easy...great weeknight meal. Thanks so much for posting!

Simple and easy. It was good and we will definitely make it again. The sauce didn't have as much of a meaty flavor as I would have preferred. The sauce was also a little thicker than I wanted. Perhaps next time I will add some beef broth to change the texture and flavor a bit. I also used fresh sliced mushrooms instead of the canned ones. I think fresh mushrooms taste a thousand times better than canned ones but that's just me. My DH loved it.

This is exactly the same as my mom's recipe except that we use cream of chicken (sounds different but works Wonderfully!). Thanks for posting this easy and awesome recipe!

This is my new beef stroganoff recipe! So good and so easy. I especially love the garlic. All my other stroganoff recipes did not have garlic and I think that it makes a world of difference. In fact, sometimes I add an extra clove. Thanks so much!

My stroganoff hating DH hated this... but I absolutely loved it. I omitted the beef and use vegetarian worchestershire (since I'm vegetarian) and instead of the canned mushrooms, I toss in a bunch of largely chopped fresh mushrooms and saute them along with the onion and garlic (I've tried both button and portobella, both were great). I haven't eaten stroganoff since I was a kid and this was way better then I had then :) I've made this many times but for some reason have never rated it. Tonight, I found out I was missing the sour cream so I replaced it with 0% fat greek yogurt and it was still awesome! I make this recipe whenever I need some good comfort food. The brand of mushroom soup really does matter in this, Annie's is my personal favorite. Thanks!

Very good with the Worcestershire sauce and adding some beef broth! Both my older girls ate it up, which is great since they are very picky eaters!

I had this exact same recipe as a kid and I still make it today. It is AMAZING, glad I am not the only one that enjoys it.

Excellent recipe and very easy to make! I substituted beef tips for the ground beef and I added some Lipton onion soup mix for additional flavor.

delicious recipe I did tweek a bit, added 1/2-1cup dry sherry, 1 tsp dijon mustard, and 1tsp paprika. Also one little squirt, maybe 1-2 T of ketchup layers the flavors.
