Yummy recipe! The hubby loved it. I used whole wheat pasta instead, but it didn't change the flavor at all. Thank you for a great post!

This is a essentially the same recipe that I have always used and is on the side of the San Giorgio ziti box. The ricotta is increased by 1/4 cp and the sauce by 1/2 cup, but otherwise the recipe is the same. I have always used this recipe as a base and then add 1/4 tsp nutmeg to the ricotta mixture. Very delicious. I use the fresh mozzarella packed in water. I think it is less processed than the packaged shredded type and makes for a creamier sauce.

Very good! and so quick and easy. I used homemade sauce and substituted 4% cottage cheese for the ricotta. I was out of fresh parsley so I used 1 Tbl. of dry and increased the garlic powder to 1 tsp. I sprinked the top with romano cheese. My DH who is not a great pasta lover gave it 10 stars. My DS & DD gave it a 4. I will make it again. Next time, I'll try ricotta. Thanks, Bev.

This is a great basic recipe for baked ziti. It's one of those simple recipes that even the picky eaters will like. I added Italian sausage to one half of the pan(picky eaters!) and left the other half as is. I though it was exactly what I was expecting...an easy recipe with simple flavors to please the masses :)

With parmesan, oregano and garlic powder, there is no reason why you should consider this a bland dish. If the original recipe doesn't have enough spice for you or enough flavor, experiment and add what you like. I hate it when someone reviews a recipe and says it's bland and gives it a low rating. Everyone's taste is different and if you adjust the seasonings to your liking, then the recipe is a winner to us all! Thanks for sharing this yummy basic recipe with us Bev. Hopefully others will know what to do to make theirs more spicy or flavorful now :)

This was basically just a bland dish. No real flavor. It needs meat & perhaps other seasonings. Tasted like lasagna with ricotta cheese, mozzarella, sauce & noodles.

This was perfect! I made a quadruple batch for a movie catering event and went home with no leftovers!

This is so good! I was on the hunt for a recipe to use up leftover sauce. I'm so glad I found this. It's a keeper. I did have Italian sausage in the sauce so added a bit more to the recipe to make up for the meat. I used low-fat cheeses and penne pasta. Yum. I cut the recipe in half and cooked it in a 7X11 pan. There was enough for 6 people. This really makes large servings. Thanks for posting. :)

Well, imagine my surprise when my normally picky 3 year-old gobbled this ziti down, occasionally stopping to exclaim "Yum!" or "Mmmm!" I can't get him to eat anything that doesn't look "plain." This baked ziti recipe is a miracle! My husband and I absolutely loved it as well. We added about 1 lb. sweet italian turkey sausage, and used part-skim ricotta. This is probably the best baked ziti recipe I've tried. Thanks so much for posting Bev!

Can't believe I have not rated this yet. I make Baked Ziti all the time using this recipe and it never fails me. Sometimes I add a bit of ground beef and/or sausage (cooked, of course!). And sometimes I use fresh garlic, rather than powdered. It's one of those recpes that you can alter a bit to your taste/items on hand and it will always be very good.

DEFINITELY "da bomb"! Correct the baking time, though. Needed a good hour to have sauce bubbling.

We enjoyed this very much. Really simple to make too. I did not have homemade sauce so just used store bought...homemade sauce would only make it better. Can't wait for the leftovers because Italian usually tastes even better the next day. Thx Bev.

Fantastic recipe as is - I make this all the time - everybody loves it! I sometimes make it with cottage cheese (drained) instead of ricotta - my kids prefer it that way. I also often double the recipe, freezing one.

This was sooooo good!! Used low-fat ricotta and mozzarella. Was ready in a flash and real tasty! Used home made spaghetti sauce and tri-color pasta. Thanks Bev! :)

This is the true "Italian" way to make baked ziti. Meatless. Most recipes I've seen contain sausage or ground beef. If you use your own sauce (usually leftover) it's authentic. Of course you can add meat if you like. The second step is essential. The only thing I do differently is skip the oregano. Too much like pizza. Nice recipe, Bev.

I browned up a package of Italian sausage to mix in with this. I only used about 2/3 of the 16 oz of pasta because it wouldn't fit in my mixing bowl or baking dish. I'm glad I cut down on the pasta - it ensured that there was enough sauce. I used a 9 x 13 dish and it looks like I could get 10 servings out of it at least. I used half dry parsley and half fresh and also added some fresh basil. I also added about 1/4 cup of fresh grated parmesan to the mixture and was glad I did. I think this dish needs more garlic flavor. I will try it next time with a couple of cloves of fresh grated garlic in addition to the garlic powder.

I made this yesterday and it came out fantastic!!! Thanks so much for posting this recipe. Everybody loved it. I did accidentally put an extra cup of sauce in the mix but I think I actually would do it again! This is definitely a keeper!
