  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar and water; boil; stir to dissolve sugar.
  2. Boil for 5 minutes.
  3. add cranberries; cook until skins pop, about 5 minutes more.
  4. remove from heat; chill.
  5. pour cranberry mixture over grapefruit sections in individual servings bowls.

Wow! The cranberry in this recipe really makes your eyes pop! Or that's my body's reaction while eating this. I usually eat my grapefruits plain, but this is a nice way to fix them up for a change.

If you like a tart fruit cup, this is for you. I prepared my cranberries in syrup in the morning and allowed to macerate all day in the fridge. I combined the grapefruit and berries for a light dessert after dinner and found this quite refreshing. The pink and red is a very vibrant combo, also. Would make a nice addition to brunch.

These beautiful and easy fruit cups are a lovely idea for breakfast or brunch. Someone with a camera, please take a picture! If you make ahead, I'd keep the cranberry mixture and grapefruit sections separate until serving. Thanks, Julie Leo, for a super recipe!
