Printed this recipe from Better Homes & Gardens site, and it is so good! I chop up any unused banana or ones that are getting too ripe and toss them in the freezer so i have them on hand when i want one of these.Buy a frozen triple berry mix and you are all set! You can use regular orange juice or i have even tried using the Tropicana blends(such as the tropical blend,Peach&Mango etc....) I whip them up for a healthy addition to my little ones breakfasts or snack and they love them! Have also served to brunch/breakfast guests and they have been very well received.
- 1 small banana, peeled, cut up and frozen
- 1⁄4 cup assorted berries, fresh or frozen (strawberries, raspberries, blackberries)
- 1 cup orange juice
- 3 tablespoons low-fat vanilla yogurt
- sliced fresh strawberries (optional)
- In blender combine frozen banana pieces, desired berries, orange juice and yogurt.
- Blend until smooth.
- Garnish each drink with fresh sliced strawberries if desired.
Smoothies have become a special treat with visiting youngsters this summer, this one is excellent. I just had to make one with a frozen banana! Using an unfrozen banana made for an equally good smoothie, so don't let not having a frozen one on hand stop you from making this delicious drink. I will be keeping some cut bananas in the freezer for future use. I cut back on the orange juice. (it worked well with vanilla ice cream too!) Thank you sharing this Smoothie,it too is in my keeper file.
Very nice smoothie! A little too much OJ in it for my liking but I did like the hint of vanilla yogurt. I'll make this again with a little less OJ and it'll be perfect-o! Thanks for a refreshing treat!!!
Very good recipe. I didn't add the banana, just some extra berries. I did add 1/4 cup splenda to my mix, berries were to tart. I doubled the recipe for 2 people. Thanks for the wonderful recipe, I'll go back and enjoy my smoothie now. CHEERS!
