directions

  • Place first five ingredients in a zip top bag and shake well to distribute. Add the beef cubes to the bag and shake until all are well covered. In a pressure cooker, brown the meat in the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  • Once the meat is browned, add the onions and the garlic to the the cooker and saute the onions while deglazing the pan. Once the onions turn translucent add the can of beef consommé and stir to combine.
  • Place the lid on the cooker and bring to pressure over medium heat. Cook 25 minutes and remove from heat. Once the pressure subsides open the lid and simmer until the proper consistency.
  • Serve over rice.

  1. Fantastic! I added a little red wine to the beef broth and a little more flour mixed with water at the end to thicken just a little more. This would work especially well if served with mashed potatoes.

  2. This recipe was great! I seasoned the meat first and then coated it in seasoned flour. I made mashed potatoes and green beans on the side. DELICIOUS!!!!

  3. Regarding NHevergreen's comment about "cooking it on medium pressure..", I believe what the recipe refers to is a non-electric Pressure Cooker and it's quite common to "bring the heat down" after the pressure cooker gets to the normal 15 psi. Electric Pressure Cookers take care of the pressure without having to reduce the stove heat.

  4. Depends how u want the sirloin.well done.med.rare.start with 15 min. Depressure it.taste meat. Or less time 10 min.

  5. So delicious! I had packages of sirloin tip steak (round steak, or cube steak....they all of the same texture to me!) and I had no idea how I'd ever use them up. I recently got a pressure cooker at a charity auction and have been searching for recipes to use - this one is definitely a winner! The meat was so incredibly tender - I've never had cube steak come out this delicious! I served it with mashed potatoes and I should have doubled the recipe.

Tweaks

  1. Love this recipe, but I like to add mushrooms to the pot before pressure cooking and there is plenty of gravy for the rice.

  2. We were very happy with this recipe! The only thing I did different was added chicken broth instead of beef consomme and only because I didn't have any. I also did not let the liquid boil after like the directions said because I was pressed for time, but I will definitely do that next. It was really yummy and hubby is more than happy to take leftovers for work! Thanks!
