  1. Brown meat and onion in oil.
  2. Put into a deep pan along with the broth, barley, thyme, marjoram, rosemary, pepper and carrots.
  3. Bring to a boil, reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour or until carrots and barley are tender.
  4. Add parsley before serving.

The stew had a good flavor, except I thought the barley was a little overpowering. I will make it again, but will only use 1/2 cup barley and I will add another onion.
