I decided to make pizza one day, and, after I had already made the dough, I realized I had no pizza sauce :( So, I got creative and put this together. I have been using this recipe ever since. Yummy..... Makes enough for 3 large pizzas. freezes well.
- 2 (311.84 g) can tomato paste
- 29.58 ml bacon drippings
- 4.92 ml garlic salt
- 2.46 ml oregano
- 2.46 ml basil
- 29.58 ml parmesan cheese
- 88.74 ml tomato juice
- Mix ingredients together in saucepan.
- Bring to a boil and let simmer on low heat for 2 minutes.
- Let cool before using.
I chose this recipe for Kittencalskitchen forum tag game, I love homemade pizza sauce and this one is a winner, I added in seasoning salt and black pepper, we like very spicy so I also added in cayenne pepper, this will be used for my French bread pizza loaf recipe, thanks Bee!
I loved this sauce!!! So simple and quick and I always save leftover bacon drippings so had everything on hand. I made a homemade pizza dough a month or so ago and it made enough for two pizzas so I froze the one part and used this for today. I just topped with cheese and onions, so the sauce really shined on this pizza. Thanks for sharing this great recipe. Made for 123 Tag Game.
This sauce is really good. Instead of garlic salt, I used 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder. I used vegetable juice instead of tomato juice. Next time I'd be curious to try with fresh herbs. Thanks Pink :) Made for 123 hit wonders
