I was at cooking light and their recipe inspired mine.
Make and share this Bear Claw French Toast recipe from Food.com.
- For the butter, mix butter, almond extract, brown sugar, cinnamon, and almonds together.
- Mix milk, almond and vanilla extracts, and eggs together.
- On a hot skillet put 1 tablespoon butter; then a tablespoon almonds; top with dipped bread and tap bread down so it makes contact with pan.
- Serve with a tablespoon of prepared butter on side.
What a wonderful french toast!!! I feel the butter is essential to get the flavor of a bear claw pastry. I am not fond of almond extract/alcohol, despite loving actual almonds, so I just used the vanilla extract. i wasn't sure what was meant by flaked almonds, I felt sliced almonds are so thin that they might burn before the toast was done so went with the slivered almonds. Definitely will make again, but will leave the almonds out of the butter, it was overkill and didn't match the flavor of the toasted ones. Thanks for sharing the recipe. Made for PRMR Tag Game.
