This is an old recipe that I have had since the 70's. It is off one of those mail order recipe cards. (before the internet). You can cook the bacon in a microwave oven. (this wasn't around either). Because it is served cold it makes a great summer side dish. Enjoy!
- 2 (16 ounce) cans green beans, drained
- 1⁄2 cup chopped onion
- 1⁄3 cup salad oil
- 1⁄4 cup vinegar
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 teaspoon pepper
- 4 slices bacon, crisply fried and crumbled
- Combine beans, onions, salad oil, 1/4 cup vinegar, 1/2 tsp salt and the pepper; toss lightly. Cover and chill.
- Just before serving, drain bean mixture and toss with bacon.
I cut this in half. I used rice wine vinegar. I loved the combination of flavors. Made for For Your Consideration.
We loved the twist of adding bacon to an old family favorite. It was just perfect and I would not change a thing. Thanks for the post.
This was good. I omitted the onions because my boys don't like raw onions. This was easy to throw together but think I might like it warmed up better than cold. Thanks for a great recipe. Made for I Recommend Tag.
