I had these as a kid at potluck dinners and in a fit of nostalgia, looked up the recipe to make them myself. They are as good as I remember. Sweet, smokey and delicious. I will be adding these to my regular rotation.
Iv'e been looking for this recipe for a long time. I havn't had these since i was a kid at a family reunion and i loved em. Saddly the man who made them passed away before i could get the recipe. I think this one sounds as close to his as i could get. Thank you very much for posting it.
I love baked beans but I don't make them very often because I am the only one who likes them. However, after trying this recipe my DH had three helpings and said he'd eat these again! I used bush's large butter beans for the beans and followed everything else as directed. thanks for posting :)
