Served by my friend Linda of Athens GA on a hot, hot, day. It is now our favorite drink for the summer, and the very best reason to grow basil! I use lemon basil as well as regular, and rim the glass with the cut lime before squeezing.
- 10 basil leaves
- 2 medium limes
- 1 -1 1⁄2 ounce simple syrup (see separate recipe)
- 5 ounces vodka or 5 ounces gin
- Juice the limes, add to blender with basil leaves, simple syrup, and vodka or gin. Blend well, add some ice, and blend again. You can vary the way you blend the ice to create the texture you like.
