This white sauce can be used in so many different ways. Add Cheese,Curry Powder,Dill,or Horseradish Add canned Tuna,Ham,Hamburger,Sausage. Lots of things can be done with this Roux.

  1. Melt butter in saucepan over low heat.
  2. Blend in flour,salt,pepper.
  3. Cook over low heat,stirring until mixture is smooth and bubbly.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Stir in milk.
  6. Heat to boiling, stirring constanty.
  7. Boil and stir 1 minute.
  8. Each sauce make one cup.

This is a literal life saver. I was starting to get frantic trying to figure out what to serve my kids (ages 16 months, 2.5 years, and 4 years) for lunch. I knew about roux based sauces but I didn't know it could be a sauce by itself. I am a continuously learning home chef, and love how quick and easy this was.

Good basic white sauce. Good for in a pinch when I ran out of cream of chicken soup.

This is the same recipe I always use over leftover stuffing and turkey. Since I am at my moms for thanksgiving I didn't have my usual recipe at hand, so this was a good reminder of ingredient amounts! Thanks for posting!
