ingredients
- 2 (20 ounce) cans pork and beans
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cups barbecue sauce
- 3 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 1⁄2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 6 slices bacon
- 1 bell pepper, chopped (optional)
- 2 jalapeno peppers, chopped (optional)
- 1 bunch green onion, chopped (optional)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced (optional)
directions
- Drain beans and discard sauce.
- Mix all ingredients but the bacon, which can be raw or half-cooked in the microwave.
- Pour beans into 13x9 pan and arrange sliced bacon on top of beans.
- Bake at 350 degrees for an hour.

I live out in the Piney Woods of East Texas and cook mostly on the weekends, as that's when my darling husband is home and the kids and grandkids often come. I have chickens and guineas, which means fresh eggs but not fresh chicken because I couldn't bear to kill them!
