i like this recipe because it is easy to prepare and this recipe came from a hotel in porthsmouth uk
- 1 packet digestive biscuit
- cream, for whipping
- 1⁄2 lb butter
- chocolate, flake
- 1 can of caramel condensed milk
- crumble biscuit add butter in saucepan mix when cool line pie dish with biscuit mix put in fridge put tin of condensed milk in to pie dish slice bananas on top then whipped cream then choc flake just yummy.
I've tried the banoffie pie a couple of times but it's best if the condensed milk is placed in boiling water for at least 2 hours, always making sure that the pan has not boiled dry, so that the milk is caramelised, otherwise the method is the same
This pie has variations in spelling and ingredients. Here is a webpage I found that is dedicated to "the best pudding in the world"! http://www.banoffee.co.uk/banoffee/ The toffee mixture is made solely by the condensed milk. The unopened can is boiled in water. See details and *CAUTION* on this page: http://www.hungrymonk.co.uk/pages/banoffi.htm
Not a true Banoffie - where is the Toffie element! This is just a condensed milk, banana and cream cake!!
