Bangar Bil Zabadi - Egyptian Beet Salad

From a German website about travelling in Egypt. They say that beet root is a popular compound of salads in Egypt and also a popular side dish. Cooking time is chilling time. Submitted for Visit Egypt / NAME forum May 2012


  1. Cube the boiled beets.
  2. Cube tomatoes and cucumber.
  3. Finely mince garlic, combine with yoghurt and salt to taste.
  4. Combine yoghurt dressing with vegetables and chill for one hour before serving.

This was very easy to make, and quite tasty. I felt it was missing something, though, to sharpen up the flavour. Perhaps extra garlic, or maybe a tiny bit of red wine vinegar. The base is excellent, so it wouldn't take much to make this dish an excellent salad. Thanks Mia. Made for PAC Fall 2012.
