  • Peel bananas, break into chunks and process with the lemon juice in food processor until smooth.
  • Stir in the simple syrup and heavy cream.
  • If your simple syrup was not chilled, chill entire mixture in refrigerator for at least an hour.
  • Freeze according to ice cream freezer manufacturer's instructions.
  • This will be a soft ice cream straight from the ice cream maker. It can be frozen to firm up, but use within a day or two for the best flavor.

  1. So easy and delicious. I used 4 large very ripe bananas and recipe #26987 for the syrup. About 1/2 cup chopped pecans was added as the ice cream began to freeze. This was used to make ice cream sandwiches which were made with recipe #336579. Nothing like peanut butter, banana and nuts. Thanks for a great recipe that I am sure to make again.
     
  2. Okay. We made this tonight. I used ripe bananas and the whole three tablespoons of fresh lemon juice. If you don't like the tartness of lemons, just cut back on the juice. I think that's why some people complained. I wish I would have had some strawberry syrup or preserves to put on top.

  3. Very creamy and flavorful ice cream! Remember when making this that your end flavor will only be as intense as your bananas, so make sure the bananas you are are ripe! This is such a nice recipe, I think that when I make it again, I am going to add a fudge ripple when the ice cream begins to form and also perhaps a few toasted almonds or walnuts to make it taste more like a banana split! : ) Thank you for this lovely recipe, duonyte!
     
  4. This is tasty banana ice cream. The lemon flavor was too strong for us so we added a tsp of vanilla and that cut the lemon flavor. It froze beautifully in the ice cream freezer. If you are going to make this ice cream, I would at least double the recipe so you have more than a couple of bowls full when you are done.

My screen name is a diminutive in Lithuanian for bread, so you won't be suprised to learn that I love to bake bread. In recent years I have been baking a lot of sourdough breads and have several starters sitting in my refrigerator. But I like to cook a lot of other things, as well, especially from various cultures.
