I added more cinnamon and a bit of honey. It was very interesting, a good warm comfort food, but I didn't really like the combination of savory from the lentils and sweet from the bananas. I'd just as soon have made oatmeal or a spicy broccoli dal. Mom thought it was "something [she] could eat", but that's about the best anyone had to say about it.
Thank you for posting this recipe. I had never seen a dahl recipe with bananas in it, so this caught my attention. It was just as you described, wonderfully warm and comforting.
