Bakinbaby's Elegant Stove Top Stuffing

Easy and elegant made from a box, but who would have thought? I like to use the Savory herb stove top stuffing mix, but you can use any flavor you have on hand. DH and I are watching our cholesterol intake and are amazed at how low this dish is and so satisfying.

• Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients:

Servings: 4

• 1 (6 ounce) Stove Top stuffing mix (Savory Herb)
• 1 cup chicken broth (or 1 cup water and 1 boullion cube)
• 1/2 cup water
• 1 tablespoon butter (or healthy butter spread)
• 1 cup celery (diced)
• 1 cup onion (diced)
• 1 small apple (diced)
• 1/4 cup dried cranberries (optional)
• 2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions:

1. In a skillet saute onion,celery,and apple in olive oil, cook about 4 minutes.
2. In the mean time, boil broth,butter and water.
3. Add sauted vegetables and dry stuffing mix along with cran-raisins and cook over medium heat for 1-2 minutes.
4. Remove from heat, let stand 5 min, fluff with a fork.
5. You can serve immediately or bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes.

Very good! Made plain Stove Top fancy. I made with low-sodium chicken flavored and left out the celery. The addition of the apples and craisins gives it a nice sweet flavor. I will be making this again! Made for Everyday Holiday.

This was great! I usually make my own bread for stuffing, but this was a quick and easy way to make a really good stuffing. And I would suggest to add the cranberries....yum!

Great way to dress up a boxed stuffing! I love these kinds of recipes! Sometimes I like the time/labor intensive "real" stuff, but this is great! You never would guess it came from a box and it is nice enough to serve to dinner guests! I did not use celery as we are not huge fans and I did not have any on hand! I left out the butter and used half the oil and this was still perfect! Thanks for posting! [Made for Holiday Tag]
