      Pre-heat oven to 375°F.

      Skin the onions, and in a medium sauce pan simmer them in enough chicken broth to cover for 30 minutes.
    3. 3
      Remove, and place in a buttered baking pan.
    4. 4
      Mix melted butter with a little paprika, and brush the onions with this mixture. Sprinkle the tops of the onions with bread crumbs, and add the remaining butter mixture to the backing pan.

      Bake at 375°F for about 20 minutes, or until lightly browned.

      I change the cooking method, but found the flavors good. I elected to do the preccoking in the microwve so I placed the whole onions in a casserole dish, added only one cup of broth, covered, and cooked until slightly soft. I then drained the liquid before topping & baking. I used smoked paprika & added a sprionkle of parsley. Served with Grilled Halibut With Lebanese Spice Rub and Deluxe Peas for ZWT6.

      Wonderful! I LOVE cooked onions and will make this often, always remembering Papa D!

      I microwaved the four onions in one cup chicken broth for 10 minutes, then roasted the onions with part of the butter and smoked paprika in the oven for about 45 minutes ~ adding the buttered croutons the last 15 minutes. Made for Papa D's Cookathon, June 2012.

      I used vegetable broth instead of chicken and enjoyed thiswith dinner. I scaked the recipe down for 2 onions. Thanks! Made for 123 Hit Wonders game.
