- 1⁄2 cup applesauce
- 1 medium mashed banana

I really liked this. I added more apples and then, after it was finished baking, dusted some sugar on and used a creme brulee torch to give it an extra crunch.
This was slightly a disappointment for me. I made it for my Dad, but we both found it overly sugary. It reminded me of the instant packaged kind I used to eat when I was younger, which unfortunately wasn't a good thing. :( However, I did like the combination of spices in it! So, I'd be willing to try it again, but perhaps cut the amount of sugar in half. (I used 1/2 cup white sugar and 1/4 cup brown sugar. Also, almond extract instead of vanilla, because we were out.)
Great tasting, especially for being healthy. The apple (and i added raisins) added a nice extra flavor. You could also probably get away with 1/4 c. sugar, plus the brown sugar. A nice way to prepare oatmeal. I cut the recipe in half and had to use quick cooking oats and it worked fine.
